Structured Data Quality
What this check reads on your page
This factor reads the HTML structures an engine can extract a value from, and nothing in the site furniture counts: a list or table inside the nav, header, footer or sidebar is set aside. It credits tables that declare a header row, lists of three or more items in the page's own content, term and value pairs written as a two-column table or a definition list, and captions that say what a table is of. Schema.org markup is read here to classify the page type but is not scored; that lives under Schema Markup Completeness.
Our verdict on the evidence
Rescoped to the evidence Rescoped to extractable data structures in the HTML itself (tables and lists), which measurably improve machine extraction. This is distinct from schema.org markup, which shows no AI-citation lift in controlled tests.
GEO: Generative Engine Optimization (arXiv 2311.09735) · Ahrefs controlled schema test (1,885 treated pages vs matched controls)
The score reads the shape of the markup, not whether the numbers in it are right or whether the table is the one a reader needs, so a header row over the wrong columns still scores. What it can tell you is whether a value on the page travels with its label: a cell under a column heading carries its meaning with it, and the same figure in the middle of a sentence has to be inferred from the words around it.

How audited pages score on it
Based on 30,738 audited pages.
The median page scores 13, and the middle half of pages score between 0 and 27.

How to fix it
- Turn any comparison, specification or price list into a table with a header row, so an engine can quote one cell against its column heading.
- Add a caption to each data table saying what it compares.
- Write enumerable points as a list of three or more items inside the article body, not in the sidebar or footer.
- Present term and value pairs (dimensions, plan limits, opening hours) as a two-column table or a definition list.
